Design Company: Business Planning
Client/Market:
A leading Scottish design company.
Problem:
The organisation has an excellent reputation amongst its existing customers. It is praised for its creativity, production on time and to budget. However, the sector has contracted during the last eighteen months and the directors are uneasy about the future.
Implications:
- Lack of a clear vision and plan will mean the Organisation misses out on opportunities.
- As the Organisation grows, directors will need to spend more time on leadership.
- Unless staff see a secure and exciting future with the Organisation, there may be defections.
Aim:
- To review what we do well and what we can do better.
- To create a company vision that everyone signs up to.
- To create a structure that ensures responsibility and authority are assigned.
- To set clear targets, a plan for action and responsibilities.
- To develop a communications structure that ensures that company progress is shared among staff.
Results:
- Refocusing of the business.
- Improved working relationships.
- Introduction of new processes to improve profitability and customer service.
- Agreement on 3 year business plan.
Our Approach:
- Stage 1 Meeting to agree: proposal, project objectives, methodology, evaluation methods, timescale, budgets.
- Stage 2 Presentation to all staff to explain project and enlist their support.
- Stage 3 Research. Internal and external research to identify perceptions of staff, customers and prospects.
- Stage 4 Presentation of research findings to directors and agreement on next stages.
- Stage 5 Presentation of research and next stages to staff.
- Stage 6 onwards. These will depend upon the outcomes from the research. They are likely to include:
- A planning workshop.
- Leadership coaching.
- Key client management workshop.
- Stage 7 Implementation of action plans.
- Stage 8 Evaluation.
Client Comments:
"I can confidently write that involving Leornian Consultants in our business planning was our best decision this year.
A rejuvenated culture is emerging in the company and clarity has replaced uncertainty. There is a spring in the step of our people that was not in evidence earlier in the year. We have restored formal communications and that has helped keep people in the loop and assign responsibility as we progress new strands of our business. We have introduced new policies and procedures for all our operations and we are reviewing our production planning."
