Approach

Interpersonal skills covers a wide area of skills, depending on the organisation's working environment. Recently we have run workshops with a variety of titles, including: 'Communication at Work', 'Influencing Skills', 'Assert Yourself', 'Questioning and Listening' and 'Developing Personal Confidence'. We can work with you to understand the issues facing your staff in order to develop the training that will enable them to grow to be effective in their roles.

Course Overview

The first step in our interpersonal skills workshops is usually to understand organisational culture, and the impact different behaviours have on others.

Typical course content might include:

  • Effective communication - questioning, listening and body language.
  • Effect of self-talk and self-image on confidence.
  • Assertiveness.
  • Building trust and cooperation.
  • Giving and receiving feedback.
  • Influencing factors and motivation.
  • Influencing skills.
  • Handling people you find difficult.
  • Developing flexibility in your communication style to be more effective.

Interpersonal skills can only be developed through practice, so any workshop will be dominated by practical sessions.

We may also recommend using Persona's 'Effective Communicator' or 'Co-operation and Beyond' feedback instruments.

How we work with you

Every company is different and every employee is an individual. To reflect this, we tailor all training to the specific needs and culture of your organisation. We can work with you to build a programme for your staff or, if you have already identified your training needs, we can provide workshops which meet those needs exactly.

Logistics

Our inter-personal skills training typically takes one to three days, working with groups of six to ten.
